Bebe Cool explains why Ugandan artists are not listed on the Forbes' Rich list

Forbes in their May issue released a list of top ten richest artistes in Africa, our Ugandan entertainers were not among them. The list featured Nigerian artists who included; Davido, WizKid, Don Jazzy among others. It also had Hugh Masekela and DJ Black Coffee from South Africa. Senegalese-American, Akon, was top on the list.

One publication featured the article branding Ugandans as broke, but the Mbozi Za Malwa singer, Bebe Cool had a different view.

"We are not broke, We are just clever."

"Before you compare Ugandan artists to America, Nigeria, South Africa and others of the kind, find out which of those countries have had civil wars in the last 70 years and what are the effects of civil wars. Know the size and population versus it's economy before you disrespect Ugandan artists," Bebe Cool noted.

Bebe Cool, Chameleone and Bobi Wine can still pass as the top artistes for now, but they all seem to agree that having music as your only source of income in this country is a bit of a trick. This morning, as he talked about his MP aspirations for Kyadondo East parliamentary seat, Bobi Wine noted that he employs over 200 people at his various businesses.

Kenya's Tourism Ambassador, Eddy Kenzo, on the other hand, seems to be beating the odds with his strategy of breaking ground in regional and international markets clearly confirming that, there's quite a lot that needs to be done when it comes to promoting music.

Short of that, Bebe Cool is still doing very well by Ugandan standards, if his 400Million Merc birthday present to his wife, Zuena is anything to go by. He also has rentals, and a Hummer among others.
